The
American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic,
mutual-help, war-time
veterans organization. A community-service organization which now
numbers nearly 3 million members -- men and women -- in nearly
15,000 American Legion Posts worldwide. These Posts are organized
into 55 Departments -- one each for the 50 states, the District of
Columbia, Puerto Rico, France, Mexico, and the Philippines.
The Quantico/Buck Keyes American Legion Post was formed in 1925 and chartered in
1926. The Post derives it's name from Charles R. 'Buck' Keyes, a WWI Veteran. A
history of the Post and information about Buck Keyes can be found on
the History page.
Post 28 is situated on six acres, just a short
drive West from Interstate Route 95. Take the exit for the
Quantico National Cemetery and continue on past the Cemetery for 2.5
miles. You will see our sign on the Right Hand side of the
road.

The Post has a large field suitable for
volleyball and other yard games, a playground for the children and
two tournament-grade horse-shoe pits. There are a number of
barbecue pits and picnic tables available for outdoor parties.
