Its official, DD-214's are NOW Online.
The National Personnel Records Center (NPRC) has provided the following
website for veterans to gain access to their DD-214's online:
This may be particularly helpful when a veteran needs a copy of his DD-214 for
employment purposes.  Military veterans and the next of kin of deceased former
military members may now use a new online military personnel records system
to request documents.  Other individuals with a need for documents must
still complete the Standard Form 180, which can be downloaded from the

online web site.

Information on Asbestos Exposure

The following information was received from Richard Moyle at the Asbestos and Mesothelioma Center.  For further information you can contact Richard directly at richard@asbestos.com.

I'm the webmaster of Asbestos.com, which was created in 1995 to warn Americans about the dangers of asbestos exposure. We've named February 'Asbestos Awareness Month' and have been campaigning across the web to educate those that are at risk. I came across your site while searching for popular veterans resources.

As you probably know, many veterans were exposed to asbestos during their service. It was commonly used in hundreds of military applications, primarily because of its resistance to fire. This exposure can result in a number of life-threatening respiratory conditions, as well as mesothelioma, a deadly cancer associated only with asbestos exposure.

In order to help better educate our vets on these risks, we've created a veteran-specific section at www.asbestos.com/veterans. This covers possible exposure points, symptoms of asbestos-related diseases, and programs designed to assist vets in preventing, diagnosing, and treating these ailments.
